From the bright side of the road…

What a wonderful thing it is to live in England in spring.  This is not meant to be some form of jingoistic statement but rather a reflection of just how the weather changes so quickly on these damp and green islands of off the coast of Europe – perhaps that explains so much about our love/hate relationship with our nearest neighbours.

On Tuesday I was at a rather grey and damp Chatsworth – not quite raining but a dampness in the air.   Two days later all that is gone and I was in south Warwickshire dashing for cover under a unremitting sun.

Today we have another change to a fresher day – bright sun but a welcoming breeze.   This time just messing around in the garden at home.

Sometimes we have to be reminded just how lucky we are.

Hello Outlook Followers

I’ve been absent from blogging for a while but it seems that this silly little blog is still getting the attention from the Outlook followers.  Those of you who might have suffered from such a problem what appears to happen is that strange followers start to pop up with an @Outlook.COM email address.   The latest was this morning – straitnfallont@outlook.com  – now of course it might be that this is a genuine follower but I somehow doubt it as every other one of these followers I have tried to ID have disappeared as quickly as they have popped up.   I have brought this to WordPress’s attention but have had little success in stopping them – this doesn’t fill me with confidence should I wish to start paying for this site – perhaps that is the reason why WordPress has shown an inability to control the outlook.com outbreak – I don’t pay!   However a quick search of the WordPress forums shows that this isn’t the case and I am not alone.

Still I guess we should be glad that these spammers or whatever they are are open about their activities unlike Facebook, Google et al

That was the week that was…

Well I think we have survived the worst winter storm in a while…only thing is where I live it was really that much of endurance – thank goodness!   The news was full of deep snow drifts, communities cut off and people trapped for hours in their vehicles on motorways.  All great and good for the news journalists but that wasn’t my experience of the beast from the east.  Instead of apocalypse we had some snow and it was bloody cold but that was it.   So for what it is worth here is my photographic record of when the beast visited:

I just hope that is the end of things and we can get on with our small uneventful lives.  As I write this the birds are singing outside – a sure sign that spring is well on the way.

Do You Remember?

Combination of 10 minutes to kill and pencil that really could do with sharpening but I couldn’t be arsed to get up do it.
