I’ve been absent from blogging for a while but it seems that this silly little blog is still getting the attention from the Outlook followers. Those of you who might have suffered from such a problem what appears to happen is that strange followers start to pop up with an @Outlook.COM email address. The latest was this morning – straitnfallont@outlook.com – now of course it might be that this is a genuine follower but I somehow doubt it as every other one of these followers I have tried to ID have disappeared as quickly as they have popped up. I have brought this to WordPress’s attention but have had little success in stopping them – this doesn’t fill me with confidence should I wish to start paying for this site – perhaps that is the reason why WordPress has shown an inability to control the outlook.com outbreak – I don’t pay! However a quick search of the WordPress forums shows that this isn’t the case and I am not alone.
Still I guess we should be glad that these spammers or whatever they are are open about their activities unlike Facebook, Google et al
I was wondering about the outlook.com followers and searched on Google if other wordpress blogger had experienced the same. Your post popped up. Thanks for this post and the link to the forum. And I too am not yet a paid member. 🙂
Thanks for this…It is a real pain – over the last few days I have had another 10 or so Outlook.com followers. I have sympathy with WordPress but these are a bloody nuisance and you always have to wonder what they are trying to achieve?
This has been happening to me too. Thanks for raising it.
Thanks for this…In the couple of days I’ve been away I’ve got another five Outlook followers. I have no idea whether this is a lot or not but clearly someone is pumping out an awful lot of these things somewhere or at least set up a computer to to do that.
I know. It’s weird. I get a few a week.
