It was exhausting

Like all armchair sports fans I was there pedalling with Chris Froome up the side of the mountain only, of course, I wasn’t.   I was polishing my arse on the settee whilst Frome was having a hard time in the Pyrenees.  Of course whilst Froome was having a hardtime the rest of the riders were having a much much harder time.

I got so exhausted at one time I had to go out and make a cup of tea with some rich tea biscuits – fortunately I have a Sky HD box so was able to freeze the action.   Only glad there is a rest day coming up soon !

One final thought…Bradley who?  My god it is easy to win the Tour de France from the settee!

May I apologise to Lauren

I suspect that Lauren isn’t a real person. I suspect she is made up, I suspect she has been created to sell get rich quick schemes. if you do exist, Laureen, then I do owe you an apology and thank you for following my blog but may I make one very small observation. Try and make your posts a little less like you are trying to to sell something…Only a thought.

BBC Weather App and Ketteringham

Oh you just have to love Apple, that reality distorting company where every things is great and just the best where….well you get the picture. Yesterday I posted a quick note saying that the BBC weather app was wonderful and excellent and you should all down load at once. Well last night, it being a Friday, found me in the beer garden of a local hostelry showing my friends the wonders of the new app when low and behold I found, according to the app, I wasn’t in Whetsone but in Ketteringham. Now the weather looked really nice in Ketteringham but as I’ve blogged before it is around 70 miles further east from Whestone. Perhaps this is the “reality distortion field” that Apple are famous for at work. Perhaps I was in fact in west Norfolk rather than just south of Leicester…Perhaps. Or maybe Apple maps are still screwed up 12 months after they launched.

I know this is a little thing but when so many of the apps we now use want to “Use your Location” to help plug their services, adverts, to you it might help if they got the right location. Or perhaps not, perhaps it might quite good fun to see what services are available to someone 70 miles from where they actually are. Perhaps. Perhaps. Perhaps.

Wild Horses

I have an itch and I finally decided to scratch it. I’ve just spent and hour or so trying to make an interesting digital painting of a wild horse. I have no idea why I want to do this as I’m not a great horsey person but who knows why things keep bubbling up from our sub conscious. This is a first stab so it will interesting to see where it takes me.

Slicing a Brain

Last night I watched yet another fascinating programme by Professor Alice Roberts on ‘What makes us human’. It was the usual mix of morkish, sentimental shots of the Professor walking by new born children and their parents looking on all dewy eyed (in a scene that could have been lifted from the script of the next Nicholas Sparks inspired movie), she was pregnant at the time and this was part of the hook of the programme. It was total pap and I feel the good professor must have been contractually obliged to do this. The reasons for me saying this is two fold: firstly she did a wonderfully professional piece to camera whilst having an ultrasound scan of her unborn child, always an emotional time, yet the piece she did was worthy of David Attenborough at his best; secondly she spent a couple of minutes dissecting a human brain and then slicing it into small pieces without a seconds thought (she is after all a medical doctor and a real Doctor, holding a PhD) – so why the morkish nonsense whilst she did a voice over?…I suspect a small amount of dumbing down not by her but the producer.

Whilst on the subject of brain slicing I had the first part of a follow up work on root canal surgery yesterday and that felt like I had my brain sliced. This is no reflection on my dentist, who is wonderful, but just having someone rummaging about in your jaw is not going to be on many people’s bucket list. Part two is next Wednesday…can’t wait.
