Interesting and I guess I understand why they are going for such a huge MP but you get the feeling that this has an LISA ring to it. The phone going in a direction that no one really wants to go – also why isn’t it Windows mobile? Again the reason is that this phone has been in development for sometime and so trying to shoehorn it into Windows would have been a step too far. The problem with this is that it makes things complicated for such matters as app development, the cornerstone of all smart phone use, and so may well leave this phone an even greater oddity than it is already. LISA, Edsel or brave new world….only time will tell.

So there I was minding my own business making a little sketch in the Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery when I became aware I was being watched. I looked up and saw a young kid, possibly 7 or 8 watching me intently, his eyes transfixed by the sketch as it slowly took shape. After a few moments he left me alone and returned to the rest of the rest of his school mates. I thought nothing ore of it but the next thing I knew I was surrounded by curious kids eager to see what I was doing. Eventually their teacher came over and asked if I minded, which I didn’t.

After a few more moments they were off back to the other side of the gallery so that they could have a group photo. It is truly wonderful the curiosity of children and clearly they had taken in the lessons that morning in the gallery. Long may this go on.

I think I might have wondered this once before but heres the answer – they make rather wonderful marker pens. Now I am sure they made these when they were also making the dry transfer sheets, although this is not mentioned in Wiki so it can’t be true. Anyway, I love using the pens as they have an almost water colour effect without any of the mess. There are a number of draw backs though, not least of which is that they are permanent and so once you have made the mark it is difficult to adjust/correct. Still all products have their own draw backs. Anyway mixing them with ink pens make a wonderful image making opportunity.

Over the past few weeks I have started a couple of new life drawing courses when I have been encouraged to try new things – all of which have been very interesting and challenging and perhaps one day I will look back on them as very important. However, just at the moment they have caused a bit of crises of confidence and so I have decided to move back into my comfort zone – with this portrait of Ronnie Woods. The funny thing is that as I look at this drawing I notice marks that have been clearly influenced by the work I have done in the classes – so perhaps my comfort zone is moving. As Spoke would have said….”..Fascinating….”
