Yesterday as I was driving through rural Leicestershire when my friend took a FaceTime call from his daughter in Egypt. Both he and I took for granted that such things should happen because of course this is what happens all the time. But you have to stop and think for one moment just what an awe inspiring thing that was – what will the next thing be to make us look on in awe?
For me that sort of happened this morning as I scanned through the eon’s of reviews of the first episode of Picard. For those of you who might not be aware there is something of an industry that has built up and slagging off Star Wars and Star Trek for numerous reasons. Now everyone is entitled to their own opinion (this is mine) but it was interesting to see so many of the haters really struggling with Picard. For months they have been saying it was going to be terrible and Amazon have been conned by CBS and so on. Then the show hits the screen and suddenly they realise that well it is really quite good.
Now I have no idea whether this episode is indicative of things to come, I hope so, but first impressions are very good – in my view – your view may vary and that is fine.
