I have recently become aware of just how crazy the Internet can get when some voices on it don’t like something. Star Trek Discovery was my baptism of fire and I just can’t understand why people get so angry about a TV show. For the record I have watched Trek since it was first shown by the BBC back in the 1960’s and have always taken it on face value. There was nothing life affirming about the programme and it would be foolish to even think it was. It was and is a great Sci Fi series which has many turkeys and great episodes/movies hiding in its ranks. Now I will admit that the first season of Discovery was a bit naff and confusing but the second season was a solid performance and I look forward to the third season.
Of course the loud dissenting voices would no doubt think I am crazy or worse but I just feel that they are taking this whole thing just a little too serious. It is a TV series nothing more nor less and should be accepted as such. If you do not like the programme then that is fine (I believe the accepted way of putting it is “…your mileage might vary to mine…”.) It is also fine to criticise the programme on line but please don’t think that your views are the only views out there. I have no idea whether I am in the minority or the majority and frankly I don’t care. What I do care about is being told what to think and like by other people. I am old enough to make my own mind up about something. Equally I am old enough to accept that my views may not be the same as yours. It doesn’t make either any more valid than the other.
May we all Live Long and Prosper
