Still struggling with using brushes to produce what I want. I look at other artist’s work with brushes and they seem to be able to control the medium far better than I do and I suspect that is my real problem. With all computer program’s you are working metaphors rather than reality and this where I suspect my problem lies – I just can’t make the brushes do what I want them to – I just don’t truly understand the underlying metaphor. Still there is only one way round this – try try again!

Eleanor

This started out with such great intentions and then morphed into something totally different. In the end I feel she turned into an ageing actress who has certainly seen better days. I really enjoyed making this painting and whilst there may well be technical problems with it I nonetheless like the end result.

The Tate is in a state of flux – around have of the gallery space is closed due to a major refit which will go on until 2013, no one appears to have noticed what is happening in London in 2012 but that is another story. They have also left the main hall of the building empty other than a series of relatively small sculptures, including this one by Barry Flanagan. It was all too much so out came the iPhone and this was the result, along with quite a bit of post production on the ipad afterwards.

Turner and me

I knocked this little wonder up at the Tate, it was part of the display of Turner’s work … I guess it was for children but when I was there three other men were drawing as well. So it is now official … I have work hanging in the Tate !
