We must rediscover the humanity of 1945 | The Times

I know I’m seen by some as a soft hearted liberal and if so good but we really do need to start to remember that these are people not ‘swarms’ and that that poor toddler found on the beach in Turkey is only one of thousands. I wish I could say that the British government was showing leadership but wishing is about all they’re doing…wishing this would all stay the other side of the Channel…it won’t.

Some days it really saddens me to be a human being.

I’ve shared this article from The Times for you to read:

We must rediscover the humanity of 1945

Am I getting a bit of a prude?

Girl in Black Shorts

This is inspired on an illustration/print by the Russian artist Anton Marrast.  In his version the woman was nude and so was showing her genitals which I didn’t feel comfortable drawing.    I am not sure why I had this reticences and I hope I am not becoming a bit of a prude but it just didn’t seem to work for me so instead I added some black shorts which I think changes the whole image to something I find more interesting.

Don’t Stop

Brand Cooper Young Georgian

So just how do you start to rekindle something where all the enthusiasm has dissipated?  Slowly I guess.  At the moment my limited run time is devoted to a monumental writing project which was supposed to be an edited version of my research to date but has   morphed into a full blown book – whether I get it published is another matter but it has the feeling of something along those lines.   The result is that I suddenly lost any interest in any other creative endeavour.  This was compounded by the sudden realisation that art classes weren’t doing it for me anymore.  Taken as a whole I just lost any real passion for creating visual art.

I think, no hope, that that phase is passing, although I still don’t have any renewed for creating photography but maybe that might return as well in time as well – I do hope so.   What does that leave us with?  Well we have these three ink pen drawings I made in the last 24 hours which are starting to show life in the only dog after all.

What’s going on….?

There are times when I wonder as 4 non Blondes would ask ‘What’s going on?’.  My artistic mojo seems to have taken a long summer break and I just don’t know how to get it back…guess I’ll have to wait for autumn to see if it returns.
