So it has been a few days since the launch of the new Sony RX1R iteration. The reaction in my small corner of the internet is that it is overpriced. A view I agree with. However, I have seen, heard and read people suggest anyone who buys this is mad. I do hope my thoughts didn’t come across like that. People are people. If you are reading this any you wish to buy the camera then good luck to you. (I know I wrote this before but I feel it is worth underlying once more.)
I have also seen, heard and read that this is a Leica Q3 killer. I really do doubt that. If you are in the market for a Q3 then that is what you want. A similar, if less well spec’d, Sony camera is unlikely to turn your head. I suspect this camera is aimed at the small but loyal RX1R camera owners. A small but enthusiastic group. Time for them to open their wallets and pour cash into Sony’s coffers.
As for my day well it has been spent chasing insects and noticing the first wild fruits are appearing. We’ve had two (or is it three?) heatwaves, by British standards, so far this summer. The climate does appear to be changing. One thing is clear the nights are starting the draw in. Soon it will be the season of mists and dampness. Or perhaps just another heatwave in the darker evenings!
