Obsession is the single most wasteful human activity
Norman Mailer
The Kilowatt Hour (kWh) is an unusual measurement. For a start it is a non SI Unit. The better measurement of energy is the Joule. One kWh is equal to 3.6 MegaJoules (MJ). Yet in the world of EV the kWh is king.
The economy of an EV is measured in the amount of kWh consumed over a specific distance either Kilometres (Km) or Miles. I would prefer KM but the app I use provides it in Miles and I can’t be bothered to a) change the units of the app or b) recalculate for KM. Any new EV will have the economy of the vehicle measured using the Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicles Test Procedure (WLTP). (EV world is filled with acronyms – you get used to it!)
So here is my new obsession: Can I get my kWh/100 miles down to the WLTP of my vehicle? I doubt it but that isn’t going to stop me trying. I have little doubt in a couple of months I will look back at this harmless obsession an smile. Wistfully I will ponder “Was I really that naive?” and go about my day trying to survive whatever mess the President of the United States has dumped on the rest of the world today.
Happier times…
