Last Day of the Year…

No one would’ve believed in the last days of the 2nd decade of the 21st century…

{Apologies to HG wells}

New Year’s Eve – 2019.

Looking back at these remastered images from 2019 everything seemed so much simpler. Yes Brexit was a thing as was Prime Minister Boris Johnson. They were known unknowns. What no one knew was that within four months of these images being captured one word would dominate the world. COVID. They were simpler times.

This is one of the advantages of revisiting images from the past. With the benefit of hindsight we can see the pitfalls ahead. No one in these images probably realised that the world would change so much. This transformation happened in just four months.

A sobering thought as we move to another New Year. I hope you and your nearest and dearest have a great New Year. I also hope that 2025 will not be shaped by just one word in the same way that life after 2019 was.
