One of the few funny things about this election is watching the slight panic in the voices of politico journalists as they come to realise that this is it. The election is not, at the moment, really changing anything. The polls are pointing towards a monumental dumping by the British electorate, Northern Ireland is different for so many reasons, on the heads of the Conservative candidates of so much excrement even the water companies would be embarrassed to pump it into the local river systems.
Will this change? Probably yes but (warning qualifications apply) not in the way that Ready for Rish would want. Perhaps the most fun things to do is watch as the Daily Mail, Express and Telegraph collectively explode with anger. No one is listening to them – just like their pet political party the Conservative Party.
Caution – 4 1/2 weeks is a very long time in politics – almost 1 Liz Truss.

And yet when (if) Keir Starmer leads Labour to victory will anything really change? You could reasonably argue that the current Conservatives have shown a marked reluctance to tackle anything substantial, and that a future Labour Government will talk up weighty matters but will also show a marked reluctance to tackle anything substantial.
You could also argue that recent General Elections have been all about ‘bread and circuses’. But the amount of bread has been decreasing as the number of clowns has increased.
