AS I was sketching in the excellent Elisabeth Frink exhibition at the Lakeside Art Centre this morning a thought struck me – just how autobiographical is art? The reason why I ask this question is that up until today I hadn’t realised that all of Frink’s sculptures were in some ways self portraits of the artist herself. I am sure this is hardly revelatory as no doubt there is a PhD thesis gathering dust somewhere that explores this exact point. Still it is new to me which is one of the reasons why I go to exhibitions.
Anyone who has ever had to move complicated items will appreciate the short video put together by the gallery. It was clearly a close run thing.
