I know I’m seen by some as a soft hearted liberal and if so good but we really do need to start to remember that these are people not ‘swarms’ and that that poor toddler found on the beach in Turkey is only one of thousands. I wish I could say that the British government was showing leadership but wishing is about all they’re doing…wishing this would all stay the other side of the Channel…it won’t.
Some days it really saddens me to be a human being.

Very well said Simon. The reaction to many people (including many former colleagues) is really depressing. We aren’t talking about ‘economic migrants’ here – we are talking about people fleeing for their lives. Whatever happened to compassion?
