| If you have never seen the TV coverage of the Alpe d’ Huez stage on the Tour de France then it can be totally crazy. The riders seem to disappear into a sea of people who seem more interested in getting their 15 seconds of frame or infamy on TV rather than giving the riders the space to race. The only good things about this madness is that it is the same for each rider. This year the organisers decided that they wanted double the amount of the insanity so sent the riders up the Alpe twice. It was bonkers yet totally compelling TV so I guess the organisers know what they are doing.
As for the GC Froome increased his lead even though he lost 20 seconds due to a feeding infraction. I guess this proves just how dominant he is this year. The real race is now for second place which should be fascinating. Another great Tour I think. Simon Marchini |
