| Tomorrow I have an audience with the Pope and I’m really looking forward to it. We’ve got our tickets and will be there in plenty of time. The weather is promising to be warm but as we’ll not be too far from the coast it should be a lot more tolerable.
In preparation for the visit I thought I would try and make a painting of his eminence and this is it. Unfortunately all I think I’ve achieved in doing is proving just good Velazquez is – as if that should come as a big surprise. I just hope the audience will sort out my dicky hip…I doubt that will be case but we’ll live in hope. Simon Marchini |
