Just where do ideas come from to create pieces of work? I don’t think anyone has any real idea. Of course scientists can scan the brain and point to this section or that section as increasing in activity when certain stimulus is applied but that doesn’t really tell us anything. Perhaps it is dark matter/energy which is supposed to make up 70% of the universe – perhaps god. All I do know is that they appear, sometimes fully formed but more often than not half baked in the brain, well my brain as this is the only one I can actually talk about with any certainty.
Take this image. It is based on a doodle I made the other night whilst watching something. It is not related to anything I was watching at the time but on a photograph I had seen earlier in the day. What was the connection? I have no idea at all but there was one even if it was just boredom as to what was on the TV at the time.
Then this morning I was looking at blog and I suddenly thought what if I combined a photograph of the doodle with a brushes painting what would that look like. This is the result. It matters not whether the image is good, bad or indifferent the idea came out of the most serendipitous combination of totally unrelated events combined in brian. There are no doubt a whole soup other sub conscious thoughts also contributing to this but, of course, I’ll never know what they are. And I haven’t even started to mention the cosmic particles that are passing through your body all the time.
So perhaps the mathematicians are right, if you got an infinite number of monkeys sitting in front of an infinite number of typewriters for still wouldn’t be able to explain why Apple thought that Siri would be a good idea.
