Well the second half of the life drawing class didn’t go that well and the final drawing became a bit of a mess. Anyway, I came home and drew this partially, I suspect, as a bit of a pick me up for the life drawing class.
I always find that they are always deeply unsatisfactory. Not because of the tutor or anything else like that but rather because of the artificiality of the whole set up. I normally take several hours or days to make a painting on the computer as well as in the real world – however, in the life drawing class you have a maximum of 2 – 3 hours and for me that is not really long enough. This used to concern me greatly but now I just go with the flow and accept what I produce in that time. However, it doesn’t mean I’m satisfied with what I have made.

Part of the challenge is to manage your time in the pose. Took up figure drawing last year and attend several open sessions most weeks. Get frustrated sometimes, too. My motto is, “Progress not perfection.” Keep drawing!
