Well I’ve taken this as far as I can. There are structural problems that would require a complete re-paint, which I’m not willing to do as this was supposed to be a Brushes painting rather than an exact copy. If I wanted to make an exact copy then I would work on this on my computer rather than the iPad.
Given all these caveats I’m still really pleased with this. It doesn’t have the keen attention to detail of van Eyck but it still has the feel of an old master – perhaps van Eyck painted by Rembrandt, which is hugely presumptive on my part but what the heck.
