Over the past week or so I have been busy doing many things, visiting the new Hepworth Gallery – great place just watch out for the crazy sign posts that can send you the wrong way up. A one way street if you are not careful! I have also been spending a whole lot of time analysing an old map of Ibstock. For most people this is not an interesting way to spend your time but I felt it was. Finally, of course, I have been drawing.

I appear to have hit a bit of a purple patch with my art at the moment. I have no idea why this is but suddenly things started to click and drawing after drawing turned out much the way I would have wished for. It is worth noting that I wouldn’t have thought this yesterday when attempt after attempt to capture Rob Lowe ended in utter disaster. A quick trip to the shops and suddenly all the ‘artist’ block ( is there even such a thing?) went away.

I ran this portrait up this morning after the first one made Gaga look like a sex toy. Not sure if this is any better but it was more like what I was going for.
